Dear Parents / Carers,
I hope you and your families are keeping well!
Today, the Education Minister in Wales has announced that schools will be “re-opening on 29th June for check-in & catch-up”. During her announcement she made it clear that this will be for “no more than a third of children at any one time”. It is clear from the media that there are mixed feelings around this, and she has made it clear that a return to school will be solely a decision for parents / carers. Many of you will be anxious about the prospect of sending you child(ren) back to school, and many will be pleased that they will have the opportunity for some face-to-face contact with school staff prior to the Summer Holiday. We will be canvassing your views and intentions in the coming week.
The minister went on to announce that the “academic year would be extended by an additional week at the end of this term”, and that this time would be ‘off-set’ and repaid by increasing the half-term holiday in October to two weeks.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will be preparing for what she has described as the “new normal” and when we have further information (due next week), I will communicate this to you. I can assure you, that the safety of all members of our school community is absolutely paramount and at the forefront of our planning.
Mr Wilkinson
