Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

As of 18th March 2020, school will be closed to pupils in Years 7 – 9.

School will remain OPEN to pupils in Years 10 & 11, and to any pupils in Year 7 – 9 whose parent works for the NHS as a doctor or nurse.

If you work in the NHS and are a parent of a pupil in Years 7 – 9, please contact the school so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

Mr Wilkinson

As of 9:00am on 17/03/20 we are continuing to comply with the UK and Welsh Government request to keep school open to staff and pupils. Please bear with us at this difficult time – we are dealing with an unprecedented volume of calls and all of our telephone line remain extremely busy. We understand that you as parents are having to make difficult decisions and many of you are having to self-isolate.

At the moment there are 14 members of staff who are not in school – 8 of them are teachers. All lessons are covered, however we are continually reviewing and risk assessing the situation.

In line with national advice, pupils’ should not attend school if they have a ‘new persistent cough’ or a ‘raised temperature’. If you send a child into school with either of these, we will contact you and ask you to collect them immediately. Please, follow the national advice and keep everyone safe!

As set out in the letter emailed to parents yesterday, it is my intention to provide daily updates via the schoolapp, website, and social media channels.

Diolch,

Mr Wilkinson

Letter from Headteacher
Information about Novel Coronavirus

Thu, 12th Mar 2020

The PM has briefed the nation indicating that those with a ‘high temperature’ or with a ‘new, continuous cough’ should remain at home for 7 days. Everyone should adhere to this advice where it is appropriate.
Anyone who knows they have come into contact with someone who has been diagnosed with coronavirus should stay at home, and report this to the school immediately.
Clearly, the information regarding the cancellation of future trips abroad will be considered over the coming days, and information will be issued to the parents/carers of those who were due to attend an oversees trip. We will be liaising with travel companies and insurance in due course.
Many thanks, for your understanding and co-operation. This is a changing picture, and we will update as further information as it becomes available.
